ABOUT ME

Hello! Thank you for stopping by my site! Let me give you a little introduction of who I am. My name is Beth Hodgson, the author of the epic cyberpunk fantasy book series 'The Spectrum of Magic.' Currently, I am working on my third novel, which will be out by the end of 2023.

Over the years, I have pursued many creative endeavors. In college, I studied 2D animation in hopes to one day work at an animation studio. Alas, during that time, 2D became a thing of the past and 3D was all the rage. I didn't want to pursue a career in 3D, so after college I worked as an illustrator and graphic designer. After five years in the art field, I was burnt out. I then escaped to the retail fashion industry. During that time, I began to cosplay under the name 'Kaolinite.' I was known for my Final Fantasy cosplays, then later for my Blizzcon cosplays and placing in many costume competitions.

After the birth of my third child, I pursued writing a story that I had burning deep inside of me since 1997. I had experience writing much fan-fiction and poetry, but never a full length novel. With my burning desire to tell this story, I made every effort to dedicate any free time that I had to write it (with three kids, it wasn't a lot!) Now, years later, I have two full novels out and working on my third!

In my spare time, I hang out with the hubby and kids, make costumes when I feel inspired, and sketch. Though I am out of practice with my drawing, it soothes my mind and helps me keep the creative juices going. I also love to read novels, play and mod Skyrim, and admire all the pixel art on the web.
